Parque da Jaqueira (Jaqueira Park)
Recife
Parks and Gardens
Is the largest park in Recife, located in a predominantly residential neighborhood between Rui Barbosa Avenue and Rua do Futuro (Future Street). The park belongs to the Jaqueira neighborhood that has its origins in the 17th century.
The area was abandoned for a while before its disposal as a park. For years it was the home of the Pernambucan's League Soccer.
The park is divided into two stages: the historic site, where is the famous Chapel of Our Lady of Conception, in baroque style and an area reserved for sports and cultural activities.
The representative park was inaugurated in 1985, when some species of ornamental trees were planted. It also has several fruit trees, playground, green area and many gardens designed by the landscape painter Carlos Bellandi. Since its inauguration the Humane Society of the Friends of Jaqueira (Sodepaja) regulate the use of the park.
It offers several facilities to users such as tracks of Cooper, BMX, biking, skating, among others.
